Subject: maketexpk woes
Cc: tex-k@cs.umb.edu
Naive question 1: why is MakeTeXPK invoked? cmex10.tfm exists in
/usr/local/lib/tex/fonts. (Really naive question: what in test.tex
requests this font?)
TFM = tex font metric files only have width etc. information. To print
something, you need the character shapes. That's what's in PK files.
Naive question 2: why does MakeTeXPK try to put stuff in a "system"
directory?
Because it has to try to install it somewhere where it can be found in
the future. If the default directory doesn't suit, change it.
